OK, I know I shouldn't take up so much space with the photos, but I am considering it practice so I don't forget. I promise to just put links more often later!!

Goodnight all!

Nooooo problem!! Bring it right over! Right now I am watching a movie while I TRY to slug through my photos so I can post some with an update! It's rather laborious, since my main reason for the photos is so I know how things came apart with the hope of SOMEDAY putting them back together!! Thus, I take hundreds of them! Seems like Bubba just keeps shrinking!!

GREASE FITTING - Confused as to whether you use grease or gear oil in the steering housing? It becomes clear when you see where this grease fitting goes...

It sits just above the bearing for the steering worm gear shaft...

With the shaft and its bearing removed, this is the hole below the grease fitting...

Before the "Excess Photos Police" come take me away, I wish you a good day. Tomorrow Merton (met at DSCF last month) is joining me from Burlington to show me how a REAL mechanic works on these guys! Hopefully we will get much done...

I see you have the new and better tie rods on in the top pic. Are you doing 2 SAs? I have one of the old style tie rods if you want it , it is fair condition but free :D the ball looks good

Boss, I am "combining" 2 SA's into one, and though they are both '48's, there are some differences, such as the tie rods. The automotive-type you see in the top photo have some repairs on them, and I have decided to go with the older type tie rod ends (they also have some "repairs": lousy welds!). I AM interested in your tie rod(s?)...any chance to come visit this weekend? I plan to go to Siler City tomorrow to pick up a couple items plus stroll through the new Tractor Supply Co that opened there. I could come up after that, or maybe Sunday?? Need anything from TSC?

Dale - that gearbox would have originally been filled with 90 wt. gear lube. Looks like somebody replaced the fill plug with a grease fitting.
