Farmall Cub

Ive noticed for a while that the governor hasn't been responding as it should. I pulled the governor of and started looking at the individual parts. the needle bearings had pretty much fallen out and the caged bearing was also gone.Most of the cage was gone. Anyway, I went to the local NAPA looking for bearings and oil seals and they were quite amused.Then I called the local Case / IH and they informed me that all of the part numbers were retired except for a spring.
Just curious if anyone has rebuilt one of these and know the source of the seals and bearings?

Glad that you sarted this post because I am suspect of the governor on my cub.
I went on an antique tractor rally last Saturday and I am sure that the max speed should be higher than what it was.I mean I was real slow so I hope that you dont object to me joining in to get any information that I can get

I'd take the IH parts #'s back to NAPA (or a more helpful auto parts store) and see if any of the #'s cross reference. Otherwise, if you can measure the ID and OD, they should be able to find what you need (or at a bearing specialty house). The last time I went looking for the FH depth adj. lever thrust bearing, the new guy suggested I go to ACE for it! I asked for one of the regulars and he found the bearing within a couple of minutes.

This has ended by finding a good used governor.I still used the internal parts. I had to by a new thrust bearing. All back together and running as it should.

Glad your problem is resolved. I had no trouble (except paying for them) getting the parts needed for a 140 governor. While I do not know for certain, I suspect that many of the parts are the same as for yours.
Do not overlook or underestimate the springs in the unit. One of them tends to rust and break in the bore into which it fits. Cleaning out that bore and installing a new spring is important for good operation.
