Super A hydraulic pump rebuild.

Well the hydo pump on my Super A is leaking fluid into the crankcase, so I need to do a rebuild. Has anyone on here done them, and what was the main things to look out for? I also found out that there are at least several different pumps made, so I am curious as to how to get the right parts. The Case IH place local is really not much help. I had a heck of a time when I had to order parts for the woods mower. Maybe the best bet is to just get the pump part number and then call Carter and Greenwald? I know at one point they did make a complete kit for pumps, but don't know if they do now. Plus, My pump does not match what I have found in manuals so I may have a later pump. Anyway, as always any advice is appreciated! At least the 140 is running well so I can keep the lawn and yard under control. LOL

Pay attention when you take it apart so you don't put it together with anything backwards or upside down.

I think there were at least 2 pumps installed at the factory and at least 2 others that were available for replacements. Get the part number off the pump (should be stamped into it) and any CaseIH dealer should be able to get the right parts/kit.

You may want to reconsider running the tractor with hydraulic fluid in the crankcase. If you can operate the mower without hydraulics, I'd drain the system and remove the pump. Then, change the engine oil and filter.

Since I figured out what was going on the tractor has not ran. I drained all the hytran and also all the engine oil. Yes I do plan on putting fresh hytran and fresh oil and filter in.

Jason, I am sure you are glad you picked up that 140 now. We are all aware of multiple cub syndrome, but looks like you did one better with the SA and a 140.

With this heat, don't mow it too short, or it will dry out and then--no more seat time till the rains come.

As Jim says, get the part number off the pump and give Ken Updike at C&G a call. 1-866-327-6255

That is what I plan on doing Don. Right now work issues and other home issues have me swamped.
