Farmall A with 6ft mower, will it be ok

Postby hddlh » Mon Aug 15, 2011 8:51 pm

will a Farmall A with a 6ft woods belly mower work ok to cut my lawn? Seems a little big for this tractor, but will be cutting weekly. Should I walk away or look further?

thanks! :help:

If the A is in reasonable condition it will handle it fine.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

That is the exact mower built for that tractor. Like BD said, if it's in reasonably good running condition, it will handle it with ease.

I would say that a good strong A should be able to handle that mower just fine. My Super A handles the L59 without issues, and the 140 really has no problem. However, I would not try mowing tall or very heavy grass in anything but 2nd and below. Keep your blades nice and sharp, make sure the front of the deck is a bit lower then the back, and you should be going like a Boeing in no time. These mowers cut really well, and will give years of good service if taken care of.
