Mower question

Postby 69ranger » Thu Feb 14, 2013 9:44 am

Hello everyone,

I was not real sure where to post this question, so here goes. I have a belly mount sickle bar mower that came with a 140 that I purchased last fall. The guy I bought it from says it may have originally come off of a Super A.
All the mowers I have seen have been rear mounted. This mower looks just like a cub mower only bigger. I have the desire to restore it and put it to work. I would like to find a manual, and I also need a few parts. I need to know what model it is to begin my search for parts.
The biggest problem I see facing me is to find a replacement pulley for the mower drive shaft. The one I have has a notch broke out of the side.
It may be possible to repair the broken pulley. I am guessing it is cast iron?

Thanks to anyone who can lend a helping hand.
Brad

Click on the first manual link above (next to Home). Near the bottom of the list click on the Super A Manuals link. There you will find links to IH-22 mower manual and parts manual.

Good morning,
Thanks for the directions to the "A" manual. I had missed this area, and needed a manual for my "A". I guess I must have missed the mower manuals however. So still no manual for this mower. No big deal. I have a line on a pulley, provided mine is in fact an "A-22"

Does any one know if these were pretty good mowers? Is it a waste of time and money to restore mine? This mower looks like a cub mower just bigger and more heavy duty. If it works as well as Dad's Cub mower it should be a really good tool.

I hope to drag it to the shop this weekend and start the tear down.

Brad:

I have a number of manuals that are simply not on the server or even scanned. I will have a look through them and see what I might have to help out. I know I have the manuals for the trailing mower for the A/SA.

Thank you so much for looking. I enjoy the manuals on line. They are very helpful to us new-comers who usually never see any of these old books.
I really dont know 100% for sure what model it is. Neat little mower looks just like the cub only more heavy made and a little larger. Uses larger pulley than the cub on the PTO and a smaller one on the mower it's self. Ratio appears to be almost a one to one.
I would sure like to restore it, as it would fit either my 130 or 140.

Sounds like an A-22 to me.

The actual cutting head is identical to a Cub. An A-22 mounts right up on the Cub mule drive and works perfectly.
