rebuilding a Super A

Postby gusbratz » Tue Jun 10, 2014 6:39 am

I have a friend with a super a that got left out in the rain, engine was stuck. he got it un-stuck in the 90's but compression is low and it has sat in the barn since then. It was bought new on his farm back in the 50's and he would like to get it going. I told him I would re-ring it and do a valve job for him in trade for a 1/2 a beef. pretty excited. I need to find a manual and get the ring end clearance and valve clearance and head bolt torque at a minimum. any other tips I should look out for? never worked on a super a before. thanks.

Head bolt torque is 80. Original manuals will say less, but IH updated it. Clearance for both intake and exhaust is 0.014 inches (hot). I don't know the rings, and I can't find my manual. So ill get back to you on that.
