New A question.
First off let me begin by saying I'm new here and this is my first tractor. I recently purchased a Farmall A and I believe it is a 1946 going by the serial number but my question is about the casting codes. The code on the engine is 9 29 K. According to what I read that is either a 41 or a 64.Did they make 113s in 64? I'm assuming it is a replacement engine and I have other codes that I don't understand. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: New A question.
Well, by 1964 the Super A had become the 140 which had the C123.
I know for Cubs K = 1964, but for example K for the Farmall M is 1941. I would assume its the 41.

Re: New A question.
Does the engine have a place for hydraulic pump on right side near the front? If no place, probably an A, or 1941. What is the serial number? one for engien is stamped into a flat spot on side of crankcase and for chassis is a tag on left seat support.

Re: New A question.
It does not have the place for the hydraulic pump. I just found the engine serial number, it is FA 78513 so I guess it's a 41. Some one must have replaced the 46 with a 41 at some point. Thanks for the information, this is a very informative forum. As I said before I am new to tractors and this is my first.

Re: New A question.
Still same motor and same parts so no worries about the year of the engine.
