Super A (C113) Oil Pressure

Postby havoc1482 » Thu Jan 29, 2015 11:19 am

Just a quick question, what should the PSI be around? I didn't fully warm my tractor up, but I did leave it running for about 35 or so minutes before checking, so the block was warm to the touch but not burn-my-hand hot. My guess is that it will drop slightly more if I let it run a little longer. I use regular Valvoline 5w-30.

I had gotten a new gauge at Tractor Supply because my old one has condensation behind the glass and has seen better days. The new gauge goes up to 80PSI. During low idle it sits around 35PSI and at high idle, hovers around 40PSI. Is this too high? Or is it just right? I know the oil moves around because plenty of it comes out of the rocker arms, and I haven't done anything, I'm just checking because this is a new gauge that actually has numbers and not a Red/White area haha

My notion is you are probably ok. My pretty Super A pegs the gauge. I imagine the mechanic that did my engine OH did some tweaking to the oil pump.
