140 transmission noise

Postby jdeere86 » Mon Feb 02, 2015 7:47 am

thought would start a new post , so don't have to scroll through the other one-

just got tractor delivered - is much more quiet , however still has this noise , below is a video I took - I am putting the clutch in and out , when the clutch goes in you can hear it get quiet then when it is idling you can hear some sort of spinning in the transmission box ,,any thoughts? thank you - tractor runs good through all gears and owner said it is ready to work and the noise should not pose any troubles

As stated before, its the main shaft bearing. Either the front one or the rear one. If you removed the shifter cover you can see it right up top. The noise doesn't sound too bad, and you'll probably be able to get away with not doing anything to it, but if you have the time and resources I'd say replace the bearings.
