Farmall? What year and model?

Postby Tosha Lynn » Sun May 17, 2015 3:15 pm

:help: I recently inherited my father's Farmall tractor and trying to find out information on it. He thought it was a 47 Farmall A tractor but research has made me think may not be what he thought it was. Serial number plate reads International Harvester company Chicago Illinois H4 53247. Other numbers I found Firing order 1-3-4-2 behind spark plugs and rear of tractor has 9090-0 or could be -D. Any help would be appreciated since I am trying to find worth to be sold for his estate. Thank you!

You have already been given some instruction and questions on the other site you posted on. Along with following up on what was said there, posting a picture is the best way for us to identify the tractor. Value varies widely depending on condition, biggest question is if it runs.

Yes thank you. I will do once I reach Ohio but the tractor is on my father's farm in Sc. He purchased in Pa bout 20 years ago and was running when it was parked there bout 15 years ago.

I believe the H4 53247 you posted may actually be the model and serial of the magneto. Unfortunately that does not narrow it down much other than it's NOT being a cub. Is it an off set where the driver sets on one side or does the driver sit in the middle? Go here http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/index.html and scroll down to Farmall and also further down to International Harvester, and check the A, B, C, H, M for pictures and where to find identification.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

That is an A. The serial tag will be under the seat on the seat frame on the transmission side of the frame.

It is most likely a 1940 Farmall A. I posted some more details on YT.
