Super A Dash Assembly

Postby AGrinthal » Tue Sep 15, 2015 9:46 pm

I just picked up a 52 Super A with a bucket. The support arm running off the dash seems a little bent in and I'm trying to get a replacement. Could anyone tell me what a good price on this part should be? Also are the backs of these things left open? Mine has some sort of home made job on it. curious if its supposed to be left open (Stock) or its supposed to have a backing.

I've seen prices from $80 to $150 for this part. Functionally its ok. I'm just being anal. The steering wheel is bent as well. Probably because you have to be Arnold to turn the wheel if its not moving due to the bucket loader.

Thanks
Andy

Whoa  ! That must be some bucket! But then I read on...

As near as I can tell, the back side (side toward the battery) of the Super A dash was open. The early (up to S/N 348643) Super A's had a one piece battery box which acted as a "cover" for the dash back. Then at S/N 348644 (about mid 1953) the "box" became just 2 sides and a top (plus a front panel if no touch control was installed) with the battery acting as a "cover" for the dash (my interpretation of TC-39).

I have an extra dash/steering post that I will part with that appears to be good. I can try to e-mail a photo of it to you if you are interested. The cost will be whatever the shipping cost is.

If you don't have a battery box to act as a cover I'd recommend making a cover or getting the Batt box. Its easy for water to find its way to your switches without it.
