140 fluid leak

Postby cmhfarm » Sun Feb 21, 2016 3:58 pm

HI everyone, I'm new to the mechanically part of these tractor and need some guidance. I have a 130 and 140, they've been good to me and I didn't need to do much to them aside from oil change. Today my 140 started to leak a fluid from underneath the shifter box right by the wheel well and brake level, I've attached a picture, if someone can help identify the problem and a solution to resolve, I'd appreciate it.

Likely an overfilled transmission due to condensation forming inside the case, particularly if stored outside or in an unheated space. Cubs have the same issue. Check the transmission gear oil level with the level plug.

Yes it's stored outside I'm MN winter. Where is the transmission lever plug?

Left side of transmission. Actually, I believe that's it on the top edge of your photo, to the left of the brake rod.

I'd start by cracking the drain plug enough to see what is in the bottom. After draining out anything that doesn't look like transmission oil, check the level of what is left.

How do you check the Fluid Levels for the Transmission?
