Just started restoring my 1961 Farmall 140. It currently has a six volt generator on it. I will be converting this tractor to a twelve volt system. I have seen that later 140's had twelve volt systems on them from the factory. Will an alternator bracket from a later 140 bolt up directly to my earlier 140? Did the later 140's use a delco style alternator, or something with a different bolt pattern? Thanks for any help.

Use the original bracket and weld a couple new brackets for your alternator.
This just done on my 130.

Were you able to reuse the original top bracket?

John,
Not sure if it is the original belt tensioner bracket, but the previous owner had welded an extension on to what is there now.
There are a few versions of this mod available.
Here's another simple one.
I like this one as well.
