serial number for ' 49 Farmall Super A

Hello, I have a super a that doesn't have a s/n plate under the seat. According to all the casting codes, it was built around February - March 1949. The engine serial number also appears to be 1949. My question is, does anyone know if there is a way to find out what the serial number of the tractor is?

Unfortunately no. The casting codes don't always determine the year either. The dates are when the parts were cast but don't represent when the parts were actually put together. Some parts would sit on the shelves for months before being put on a tractor. If most of the cast parts fall under the same year then chances are it is a 1949 though.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure it is a 49, since all the casting codes are in Feb. And Mar. Followed by an S. I'm just curious about the tractor s/n
