H4 Mag overhaul

Postby mgwolfe » Mon Jun 06, 2016 12:07 pm

I have an H4 Magneto that I have been working on to get it cleaned up. When I took the gear timing cover off the larger one that the rotor goes on moved. I thought i put it back in the right place but apparently not. I put it back on the tractor and it gets a good spark. Just not at the right time. I saw one tooth on the smaller gear that is marked but nothing on the larger one. Any help would be appreciated.

Get the engine at Top Dead Center on the Compression stroke for Cylinder 1. Keep moving the gear until it makes the rotor line up at cylinder number 1 plug wire.

The plastic keyway that the rotor slides onto should have two marks on it. Line up the "R" with the mark on the smaller gear.
