Woods l59 mower

Postby Walloinc » Mon Sep 05, 2016 9:55 pm

I'm having trouble taking the spindle apart. The sheave is stuck. Thoughts? Advice?

If you can block up solidly under the lower end of the shaft on the bottom side of the mower you can probably place a short pipe over the top side of the shaft and drive it down the bushing enough to break the bond then the puller might work with some cleaning and lubrication on the shaft. If you hit directly on the shaft the top end will "swell" and the bushing will not come off. I've had some success with this type approach. Also check the bushing for a "split" on the side. You might be able to drive a thin chisel in the opening. Stan

Looks like a split is showing in the picture. Use a chisel thick enough to hit both sides of the slot without bottoming out against the shaft.
