pto question

Postby jdeere86 » Wed Oct 19, 2016 8:17 am

pto on 140 looks same as one on my deere --can't seem to get pto from potato digger to slide on her ...just goes about inch and stuck ---tried sanding off paint from pto and getting her smooth --- should it work ,,,are pto's on 140s standard size

thank you all

Yes, it is the standard 1-3/8" 6-spline 540RPM PTO.

You need to do more cleaning on the shaft. If it still has paint it probably has never been used, so isn't worn like your Deere's. I had to do a lot of filing and sanding on the splines on my Super A. Between the paint and rust and crud it was a bear.

Check the potato digger side of things too. There could be burrs in the internal splines that are keeping it from coupling a good shaft but don't interfere on a shaft that is worn.
