Battery box question for you. Is the Super A and Regular A battery boxes the same in size and lid, just different mounting brackets? I am looking for the A box and I have Super A battery box to go my Super A. i was going to use the measurements to make one.
Thanks

Re: Battery box
Box dimensions are the same or close enough. The brackets to hold the box and to hold the lid on the box are different.

Re: Battery box
I've picked up two good used reproduction boxes for my two '46 A's at a decent price. ($60-70 each)
You know about the bracket differences, the early A has two flat mounts and two facing down while the Supers brackets all bolt flat down.
The the lids hold downs on the early A is front and back at opposite corners while the Supers are on the middle of the sides directly across from each other.
Ok here's the part that baffles me, you can find reproduction Super A boxes in the $80-90 range while the early A's go for $120-140. It's the same amount of work and material so why would the early A box cost so much more?
