Underslung Exhaust

Postby EZ » Sun Jan 01, 2017 5:44 pm

Anybody on here ever try converting Super A or 130 to have underslung exhaust.
Had to shorten my stack to get out of a standard size garage door but now I seem to get a lot of exhaust in the face.

I cut mine down too so it would fit in a shelter logic shed. Oh ya exhaust in the face for sure. Going back to original height when my carport is finally built.
I'll bet you've got some welding skills. With a short elbow of black pipe and some exhaust sections from pep boys you could piece a pipe together that'd look like s factory piece.

My suggestion is to simply add an elbow and short (4 or 5 inch) pipe to point it to the left. Another option would be a slip on to drop over it once out of the garage and a welding gauntlet to lift the slip on off before returning to the garage.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Here is another way I have seen it lowered: (Not my tractor and I know NOTHING about it or the owner)

Cant the top of the stack to the left with an angled piece. It'll make a world of difference.

Our old Super A I mowed the yard with got its muffler knocked off by a tree limb many years ago. It broke the manifold at the muffler mount. We just ran it without a muffler for years.
But that hot exhaust would blow back in your face when you turned into the wind.
I may go underneath when I restore it.
Or do like the pic above.

With the Underslung, like in these pictures, its more difficult to remove the hood. I went back to the regular vertical set-up and I think it looks better...even though I get some burn spots on old shirts.
