New to me Super A
Picked this up yesterday. Cant read the serial plate, need to clean the paint off of it but the engine casting is 2 18 X so a 1952. The PO converted it to 12v with push button. Need to do some work on seals/gaskets but it it runs strong.

I am in the process of putting on a 22 Sickle mower so I removed all the tool bars etc from under the belly. I took I out last night and noticed that there was a lot of wobble in the front wheels. It had never done that before, just wondering if that is because I removed all the weight from under the belly?

Re: New to me Super A
Probably not the reason. Did you run it in a higher gear? You could have also been holding pressure against steering gear and didnt notice it. To fix: jack up both front wheels and diagnose to see where play is coming from. Could be external or internal. They are not hard fixes if you're a decent mechanic with a little time.
If slack is internal, buy a rebuild kit for the steering box and install all parts, but go the extra step to have a good welder or machine shop to weld the steering gear to the shaft because the majority of the internal play is in the key way in the shaft. doesn't hurt a thing to weld them together. You'll be surprised how it changes things! I also have a welded one if you don't have someone to do that.

Re: New to me Super A
Ok thanks, will do a bit of investigating. I have run it in 4th before and never noticed it. Yesterday it was only in 3rd and if i hit a bump it would start to do it.
