140 Touch control stopped moving

Postby 1978cub » Sat Mar 04, 2017 7:58 pm

When I started up the 140 this morning the Touch Control would not move with either lever. Of course I can check the fluid level and then check if the Hydraulic fluid went into the engine but if those are ok what would you suggest checking next? Note: It was 10 degrees here Friday morning and it was outside so everything with water was certainly frozen solid.

I found the hydraulic fluid had leaked into the engine. I changed the pump to a good pump. Has pressure but still will not move when I adjust the levers. Any more suggestions?

Assuming you refilled the fluid and followed the procedure for bleeding (leave fill plug loose and cycle lever several times), it is probably air locked. Look on the block where the lines attach to the TC unit. You will find 2 pipe plugs with Allen screw heads. Remove the top one, it will be very tight. start the engine and run it slowly, Touch Control fluid should start to come out, and may tend to squirt a ways. As soon as that happens shut off the engine and put the plug back in. Then refill and bleed air as I described earlier. Hopefully that will solve problem.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
