Steering help

Postby Farmcub31 » Thu Apr 20, 2017 6:37 pm

I am having a heck of a time finding the front axle pivot bushings for my super A anyone know where I can get 2 brass bushings for this front axle at a decent price? I took the front axle off and noticed there are no bushing at all separating the pin and the axle! The pin seems to be about 1" and the ones I ordered from yesterday tractor were much bigger then that and done fit, thats the only option for this tractor on the front axle bushing. Also I am looking for the steering shaft woodruff half moon key can't seem to find that dang thing anywhere also. Please steer me in the direction of where I should go. Thanks so much guys!

If you know the bearing dimensions, you can search McMaster-Carr, Grainger, MSC Industrial, and/or Bearing Service. A google search will give you the website for each.

In the parts manual, the wood ruff key is listed at 1/4" x 7/8". The manual doesn't list the bushing dimensions, so you'll need to do some measuring as Urbish suggested.

Thanks guys. So I guess there were different size bushings for the front axle? Anything will be better then what I have which is nothing. looks like my ID is .98 or pretty much 1" My OD is 1.057 so its pretty skinny. Just seems weird I can't see any bushings there.

Bushing size is BUSHING,25.07mm ID x 28.27mm OD x 63.5mm L of course thats x2 on the bushing amount. They are wanting $45 each! plus shipping insane! There has got to be a better answer.

So I found a bushing that the Id was the same but the od was a bit larger very small difference. I widened the od hole just a tad and then split the bushing in half on one side and polished the inside. I drove it in and it fit perfect! The bushing is a tad shorter but it won't matter much for me. Total cost 3.50 instead of $50 for one!

How about a part # and source?
