Farmall Cub

There is a auction near that has a Farmall 100 in the listing.

In the past I have seen that some Cub parts/implements will work for a 100 as well.
Anyone have any experiance with this.

I am hoping that there may be a few implements at the auction that can be used on a Cub as well as a 100 but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I read that the 100 was only produced for 2 years, is that true? Why? Does that make a 100 somehow special???

Farm Equipment Guide. Years mfd: 1954 - 56. IH 6 cylinder gas. 123 cubic inch. Estimated 21 hp draw bar. 4 speed forward. 2600 lbs. Suggest retail price was $1800-. ((My note: The reference has quite a few errors. Valu-bilt lists the engine as a 123, same engine as the Super C and 200. 4 cylinder gas engine.))

Starting serial # - year:
501 - 1954
1720 - 1955
12895 - 1956

Why produced for 3 years? Can only guess. Above reference lists the suggested retail price of a Super C as $1690. Super H retail price was $2150-. Super A retail price was $1420-

I suppose if that 100 has fast hitch, some fast hitch mplements will interchange. As far as stuff like cultivators/universal mounting frames, disk plows, moldboard plows, etc. they will not interchange. Smaller items like sweeps, shanks, cuffs, hillers, etc. will exchange between the two.

As I understand it, the 100, and later the 130 were produced for short periods of time as an attempt at "planned obsolescence." The 100 replaced the Super A. They are essentially the same tractor with very minor revisions here and there. Biggest difference is the change in paint scheme between the 100 and 130. The 140 is a further update, with 460/560 styling. The 140 sheet metal was updated from time to time, to sort of match the styling of the larger tractors at the time. (After the '06/'04 series, it really didn't match but it probably didn't make financial sense for IH to re-style it anymore.)

The 100 ran pretty good and had a C-3 mower with all the covers, tractor still had battery box intact. Looked like it leaked oil around the engine, it was pretty well coated. It went for $1500. I was there just to make sure that it went for something more than $500.00.

Just in case anyone wants to know.

Doug, thanks for the update. I had thought about going to that one. The picture in the online listing looked pretty good. Went to Columbus, instead, to see the new grandson. Sounded like a better deal than dealing with the heat and shortage of storage space.

$1,500 sounds like a decent price for the tractor and mower IMHO.
