130 touch control problem

The brace or link (part # 350677R2)on the right side control valve has come loose from the link going to the control lever. There is a short pin on the brace that fits into a hole on a short link. I cannot figure how to get at it to re-attach. I have removed gas tank and loosened the rockshaft, but still need to be able to extend the hydraulic cylinder shaft in order to get to it. The shaft is fully retracted now. Can this be done without starting the motor? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, John

I don't see that part number in my TC-52A parts manual.
Do you have a picture of it?
You should be able to move the rockshafts by hand or using a bar.
I have not put my pump back on yet so it will be awhile before I get to hooking up the levers etc........

I am looking at a TC39 manual (super A) from Rudi's new manuals on this site. It is reference # 1 on page 234. this is a link and brace that connects the control lever and the valve and the cylinder. I can see how to remedy the problem if I could get my hands on it. I tried to lever the rock-shaft and it won't budge. Maybe if I take the pump lines off it will relieve pressure so the cylinder can extend. Just trying to avoid excessive dis-assembly. Thanks for your response. >>John

When I rebuilt my TC on my SA I inadvertently had both pistons extended the same amount which made further assembly of the rockshaft impossible since I could not get the pins in. A strong friend was able to pry one piston out with a bar which gave me enough room to complete it. I had been afraid to do that because I didn't know if forcing it would damage any seals or other parts. It works OK, but has started to allow my Woods 59 to slowly lower itself. Don't know if that caused this or if my rebuild was not good enough.

thanks Dale. I had the TC unit rebuilt a few months ago and did not want to damage it. There has to be a way to release the cylinder. Thanks again, John

Judicious use of compressed air in the correct inlet port might provide the desired results.

I am still having a problem with re-assembly. Does anyone know how to manually extend or release the hyd. cylinders. Thanks, John

You may need to take the head back off.

Thanks Jim, but I sure hope there is another way. I have been working on this for a month and all because a cotter pin fell out of the control brace!!

FYI.
Well I finally decided to re-assemble enough to start the motor and extend the cylinders normally. Then took the tank back off and attached the braces and pins to the cylinders and rockshafts. Then put the tank back on. Not as bad as it seemed. It would have been easier if the cylinders could be manually extended, but I never figured out how to. In the future if I remove the touch control unit , I will be sure to leave the cylinders fully extended.

But do not leave them side by side. Stagger them or else they will block each other!! :?

I'll come out and say it: There is no way to manually extend the cylinders.

If they were conventional cylinders you could simply crack the lines, but since the lines are machined into a solid block of steel, it's simply not possible.

The only way is like Jim said: The head has to come off.

Now that it is done, starting the motor to extend was not that big of a deal. One caution, be sure to keep fingers away from the shaft ends when the motor is running. Especially don't stick your fingers in to align the holes. The braces are attached to the control valves. One bump and you could easily loose a joint or two. >>I still had to force the braces over the pins that connect the cylinder shafts and the rockshaft, then bent the braces back to tighten the fit. I am not sure I could have taken the braces apart and re-assembled. Not enough clearance for my fingers. This was sure a big pain in the axx for one lost cotter pin.
