Need some Carb HELP!

I recently picked up my grandpa's '77 140 farmall and ALL the implements :{_}: :{_}: :{_}:

It has had a very hard life since his passing.Image

I'm trying to just get it running right now..... I have the carb off of it as it needs the float height reset as it overflows the gas. Yet it will only run for about 30 seconds( found during tear-down idle screw turned all the way in) ...

I cant find anywhere a spec sheet on this Marvel carb # TSX 864 to set the float and anything else!

Thanks, David C

Great acquisition, David. Even a fast hitch, too! 8) I'm jealous. Get in contact with Boss Hog, he knows his 140's.

Old carbs can have dirt stuck in the seat and not shut off even though the float is set correctly. You may have a leak at the gasket for the shut off seat and or you may have a leaky float that has liquid in it. I like to look for the cheap and easy causes first. Check the needle too to see if it has no damage.

David, In looking at two M/S manuals, both say "set floats 1/4" from gasket face to nearest edge of float, keeping edge of float parallel with gasket. Adjust by using bending tool #M-8." If you go to "johnsoldiron.com" and click on "Ford tractors", then click on "M/S TSX carburetor", you'll find a very good set of photos for disassembly and reassembly. They are for a Ford, but the basic components should be the same.

What are those weights you have on the rear? Never seen any of those!

Also, what implements did you get with it? Sure would love to see more pictures of the tractor and the implements!!

the center disc on the right wheel is actually a cast weight along with the bolted on weight... I think they are original ???

got the usual cultivators, Cole side dresser, f/h plow, disc (havent seen it yet) and a post hole digger, belly mower, and a pull behind bush hog

Now that post hole digger is something not usually seen for a Fast Hitch. Pictures of that would be awesome! Nice Tractor~!

Looking at the post hole digger, I don't think it's a fast hitch version    I'll get some pics of it soon
