Radiator

My understanding is that the Super C has a fluid pump. How would one know that the pump is working? I hear that it seems to kick into a faster speed, but my temperature gauge doesn't move much at all. But I am not working it hard. Just curious if there is a way to check (recently replaced fluid and there wasn't much crud at all).

Yes, the Super C has a water pump. Mine rarely moved very far off the bottom peg.

Thanks...could you elaborate a bit as I don't know how they work....and there is nothing in the manual except for the bit about the thermostat

I should have been more clear. Mine seldom moved very far off the cold indication on the water temperature gauge, even when the engine was fully warmed up.

Does it have a low and high fan speed?

Only with the throttle. The more throttle, the faster the fan spins.

Strange, then I wonder what is happening. It can be idling and it clearly sounds like the fan doubles in speed while the engine RPM stays constant. Almost like my car on a hot day with the AC on...it will periodically sound like the fan kicks into high gear for a while.

That's the fan clutch. Certain temperatures make it engage/disengage. Does your car have an electric fan on it?

So there is a fan clutch, okay. I have no idea what my car has....I started from scratch with anything mechanical last year with my first cub and I should work my way up to my Highlander by about 2025!!! That's why I find the discovery process so invigorating. Thank you.

I don't think your tractor has a fan clutch on it, I was referring to your vehicle.

I'm guessing here but maybe the fan belt is slipping intermittently....
