Head torque pattern

Postby yellercub » Thu Jul 18, 2019 8:34 pm

I am getting ready to reinstall my head and was wondering what pattern to use to tighten the head bolts or in this case nuts. I have a 9 bolt C head . Do I start in the center and work my way out? 65 Foot pounds per bolt/nut, correct? :thanx:

I don't know the foot pounds of torque required for the C head bolts.

I start with the bolt in the center of the head, then work in a clockwise pattern with each sequential bolt.

If 65 foot pounds is correct, first round of bolt torqueing would be at 55 lbs. Second round at 60 lbs. Third round at 65 lbs. Engine warm up/hot, then retorque to 65 lbs.
I have an excuse. CRS.
