Restoring Farmall C

Postby KBP » Sat Mar 29, 2008 7:29 am

Hi Cub 1948! I am doing the same thing you are doing to a Farmall C ! Looks like you are doing a good job! Remember to take off all the old paint possible! I use a gel paint remover then power wash the main frame of the tractor and it seems to get the old paint off. This is the hardest part for me. Once you have all the old paint off, the rest is easier. Some people just sand the old paint smooth, but then your new paint only holds as good as the old paint underneath! Keep up the good work. The C I'm working on will be painted this weekend. Then put back together and painted two times more once its together! If you want it to shine like a new car, use a gloss inhancer and paint hardener additive. It really makes a difference.

Lookin' good so far. Love to see progress pics like this. Seems kinda risky, weather wise, to be doing all that tear-down outside.

Well Our garage isn't high enough to back the C into. So I'm doing it out side.
I fill up the holes with plastic bags so the water doesn't get in.

Hi all,
I hope every one is having a good weekend. I have the C almost done, I'm just waiting on a few parts I ordered. and a few more areas to paint and it will be done. I rebuilt the Carb. and I got a brand new rat the old one leaked. The only thing that will not be on the C will be the gas tank , I'm getting a new/ used one because mind leaks. But mean time to start the C I'll be using an Cub cadet tank from a 10 HP. Kolher.I'll be posting pictures soon.

Take care all.

Farmall C

Postby KBP » Sat Apr 05, 2008 12:27 am

Hi Len! This must be the week to finish tractors! Saturday morning I will be putting the decals on my friends Farmall C and putting the wheels back on and its ready to roll! Paint needs a few weeks to get really dry and hard, but its ready to roll out! Next, I've decided to put a new transmission in my Super A. It whines a little and I still have a little time before spring planting up here in Northcentral PA! Ken

That's great news Ken. My C has a few thing to go yet before being compleated, I'm waiting on a few parts I got through Ebay, but then it will be done, exsept for the gas tank, but I'll be getting another one from Wenger's in Meyerstown, Pa. sopmetime soon.

Here's a few up date pictures.

Hi Len! Just got finished the Farmall C! My friend put the wheels on and finished wiring. I put on the decals and it looks great. I will try to take some pictures tomorrow. Someone will have to explain to me how to post pictures on this website. Thanks! I will also post my pictures of my Super A! Ken

Restored Farmalls

Postby KBP » Sun Apr 06, 2008 8:10 pm

Thanks Len! Great job posting the pictures for me. As I said, the Farmall C belongs to a friend. My neighbor is really the expert. I work with him, but Bill is the guy that knows how to do everything the right way. Each tractor I do, I learn about a zillion new things. I am putting up my Super A for sale. I have need for some cash. Next project is already underway. We are restoring a 1952 John Deere truck! Then my friends John Deere A! Lots of fun! The best part is restoring these treasures of the past! KBP

I noticed you have the water pump. Someone must have put that on as it was not factory.
