240 utility engine in Super C

Postby liveoak415 » Wed Aug 27, 2008 12:13 pm

I have a Super C with a bad engine. I have a good engine from a 240 utility. Is it possible to install the 240 utility engine in my Super C?

Does the 240 have a135 in it ? If so it may not fit,Ihave a 330 U with a 135 in it and the back of the engine is wider where the toque tube bolts. But they also made a 135 that would fit.

Tractor Data.com says that 240 has a 123 cu.in. engine.

The C-123 used in the 140/240 and later has a water pump mounted on the block, similar to later model car engines. Connections to the radiator are different and may cause you a problem with the Super C radiator.

Sorry for the tardy reply, been a long year... But thought I'd offer some notes.

The back of the block will bolt right in, but the front is a different matter. Make sure the 240 motor is complete, as you will need to bring over all the new style accessories with the motor, then find a 140 donor for the radiator and it's bracket. And make sure we are dealing with a Super C vs a straight C or the grill will be to short. Match the air cleaner to which manifold you use as they align differently.

I've done this swap before, it's possible; but the motors are not a direct swap. As Jim mentioned, the blocks are different which requires a new water pump and pulley arrangement. Everything is driven from a single thin belt vs the two belts used on the Super C. The upper water neck and the radiator inlet are also at different angles which requires the 140 radiator replacement.
