C hydraulic pump shaft

Just wondering if anybody knows the size of the hydraulic pump "driveshaft" should be, like .500"..., last winter I bought a rebuild kit from C&G and rebuilt it, but it still seems to leak into the engine... i was just wondering if i could measure the shaft and get a real close idea with a micrometer or caliper, decide if i should start lookin for a used one, or possibly new? i won't have it apart for at least 2 weeks probably, so I just kinda wanna have my ducks in a row before i tear it down... maybe it would be just as good to get a whole new/used pump instead? the tractor has had a rough life i think... hydraulic fluid is not the cheapest thing to keep buying. and so is engine oil/filters

Thanks for any ideas/help

Johnny

Did the shaft seal get put in with the lip facing the right direction? --that could explain leakage around the shaft also!---I am not sure of actual shaft dia. thanks; sonny

i would assume i put it in the right direction, i did notice when i took it apart, something inside was in upside down with tangs facing the wrong direction... but i would imagine i did get it going the right direction. when i took it apart, the nut that holds the gear on the end of the shaft was stripped out, the key was worn about half, and the shaft was just about garbage, i got a new key/gear/nut and replaced all of that, but it still seems to leak, i can't remember if the shaft was extremely worn, but I guess i'll find out when I take it apart

Thanks
