SC Valve Clearence

I'm confused. :lost:

The owner's manual shows a .014 valve clearence for all valves - both intake and exhaust.

Another manual I have shows that after serial number 100501 the clearence changes on the exhaust valves to .020. I assume this is the engine serial number and not the tractor serial number as the manual is engine related and not tractor specific. I have looked all over and can't find anything that looks like an engine serial number.

Do I just go with the .014? :help:

My reference shows .014 hot for all of them. The ignition points should be .020. What reference shows .020 for the exhaust valves? I'd use .014. The engine number is stamped into a machined boss on the top edge of the block, below the #1 spark plug.

Thanks Jim.

I was looking at page 1-18 of the
Engine & Fuel System
C-123, C-135, c-146 & C-153 Engines
GSS-1295-J W/revision 2
March, 1977

Jim, I think I know What I was doing wrong. I am embarrassed to say I was looking at the column for the C-135 engine and not the C-123 engine.

Tomorrow I will set all the valves for .014 and see what happens.

Yeah, the C-135 over some 34,xxx serial number had a .020 exhaust clearance.
