is there a different front wheel for SC?

Postby 64/67lo-boy » Sat Feb 09, 2013 9:15 am

I have a 52 super C. Id like to put a bucket on the front. I have the WFE and I have herd that the reason these tractors dont have buckets was that the cast wheel senters dont hold up under the weight. I was wondering if there was ever a replacement rim made so you could put a bucket on them?

There are 2 versions, one adjustable track and one not. You currently have the adjustable, which tended to be more common on later tractors. I've never heard anything suggesting one version is any stronger than the other. Maybe Boss or someone else has experience suggesting one version or the other is stronger.

Keep in mind that farmers tend to OVER-use their loaders. Most of the breakage is likely due to the tractor being used for things it wasn't meant to do.

Loaders are used as bulldozers, backhoes, battering rams, cranes, forklifts, snowplows, etc.. There's a degree to which you can get away with those kinds of things, but there's a limit too.

Don't abuse the tractor and frankly, you should be just fine with the cast hubs.

The problem is where the bolt loop is riveted to the rim. I have seen many that had broken out and welded in place.

Ahh, so the weak point is the rim. That is pretty believable. The area of the rivets is also the main place rust will catch up with you as well. On the cast centers, the only broken ones I had to replace were a pair of loose-lug types that were broken through the spokes. I suspect that was because a PO used an impact wrench to install wheel weights. The damage became apparent when the weights were removed.

I have seen a few broke there too, but believe it was operator error also
