Got the 240 out yesterday to change the oil and get it ready to mow this year, and dad just gave it to me! Told me I could restore it and use it , or trade it whatever I wanted to do. I've decided I'll just fix it up and continue using it to mow my yard. I have some questions, we had one before that was a 2 point hitch, this one has a 3 point hitch and power steering. Is that rare? Our local dealer has one and it also is a 2 point. What years were these tractors made? Plus it has vertical exhaust is this just a farmer fix or was this an option? Here's a pic of it, it runs good and dad had been changing out the hood sides and pieces on it over the years so the hood and sheetmetal pieces are perfect. It needs painted and new tach and guages.

mine brandon, is an early unit, 1958, no PS, two point fast hitch, under exhaust.
for S/N look here

the parts manual indicates that the tractor could have either type exhaust.
the changeover, if you will, to the now standard 3 point hitch, was right around the time these tractors were produced. my parts book, issued 4/1960, shows both 2 point and 3 point as attachments.
my thinking is that the later tractors would be more likely to have a 3 point setup.
nice looking tractor, BTW. do you have a source for hood trim parts?
