another one followed me home!

Postby artc » Thu Jun 14, 2007 11:15 am

heard from a longtime friend about a couple of tractors a widow wanted to sell off.... 10 miles away....right away perked my antennae.... an 'early' H and a Case VAC.

had to go look at them.....a mistake, of course  ..hadn't run in probably 7 or 8 years.....price was very right :D :D...motor loose...oil looked ok...

don't need an H for anything but......

Image

put a couple gallons of gas in it...hooked up a battery...no fire....opened the mag up...someone had been messing around in there recently.. grabbed the mag off my A, tossed it on.... one revolution and it was running!! 8) 8) loaded it up!

Question: it has a small carb on it, but its a '49 by the castings. serial tag long since corroded away. i thought the small carbs were only prewar tractors?

from the pic that looks like the right carb. The 300's have the M sized carb but its still not the same. Idle circuit is different.

Correction.... I think the Super H's also had the same carb as the 300's.

Our '46 W4 used the large carb. let me look this weekend at Zagray's early SH and a members H on the grounds. i'm thinking both had the large carb.

Our 52 H has the smaller carb, I don't think they went to the larger carb until at least the supers if not the hundred series although either will fit.
