G. Willer Question: Emblem Repair

Tue Dec 18, 2007 9:08 am

I looked back at the "before" and "after" photos of the Farmall emblem George repaired and I'm still amazed. My oval "240 utility" side emblems are not mangled the way the Farmall emblem was, but are bent out and cupped. Being aluminum I know I can quickly do more harm than good. Can you give some tips and techniques on straightening emblems ?

Thanks.

Merry Christmas!

Do it in SMALL steps.

Take your time.

Use only wooden tools.

Be prepared to whittle a lot of tools for the different shapes.

You can work directly on a CLEAN bench top.

You probably can't do it quickly enough to be practical (I sure didn't), but the reward comes from having done it!
