McCormick Number 21 Potato Digger

Postby Rudi » Wed Feb 06, 2008 7:07 pm

Jim or anyone who knows..:

Is the McCormick Number 21 Potato Digger a ground drive or a PTO drive? If it is ground drive is it a one horse, two horse equivalent Potato Digger or does it require say a C or Super C and larger?

Enquiring minds need to know.. :big smile:

I've got nothing on that model. Records say it was built in '57 amd '58. It is a 2 row model. Given the size and years, I assume it is power driven.

Jim:

Thanks for the info.

Now a question. Which of the McCormick-Deering/IH Potato Diggers are one row, ground driven and suitable for a Cub or an A?

Most any up to #5 is a 2-horse machine, should be OK. #6, 7, 9 and 14 are 4-horse but probably still OK for a Cub.

Hey Rudi
When I bought my potato digger and Dirt Devil got his, he acquired a manual with his, which he sent me. It covers no. 4, 5, 5a, 6, 7 & 9. No's 4, 5 & 5a are 2 horse models. I can send you the manual if you want.

Rudi and BrianJ

I sent the manual to Rudi way back when, and it is on the CD's that are running around at our Cubfests.

Rudi the one that is in the movie I made was a four horse digger and the Cub will handle it just fine.
