IH 284 diesel tractorsI am real close in buying an IH284 tractor, It has the Nissan diesel engine, around 30 hp, I would rate the tractor well above fair condition. it has a few little dents & bangs nothing out of normal use, The paint is really good for it age, I guessing it's a late eighty's tractor. Starts nice no white smoke, typical little leaks, only concern. no live pto same as a cub, but it has the dual speed 540 or 1000 rpm. pto. does'nt have pwr.steering & missing the swinging draw bar. Has all off the 3-point stuff. comes with an drawbar & top link. also rear cat.1 5ft. scraper blade like new. Has turf tires on front & back, good shape. if I get this tractor I would like to change out the turf tires for ag tires, I wonder where I could get a good set of used rims & centers & front wheels, also a swinging drawbar. & If parts are readly available? Guy is asking $2,000.00 which I think is a heck of a deal. what do you guys think. Thanks Dave F.
That is a pretty amazing deal on that tractor. I have seen them go well into the $3500 and up range.
You should check the wheel/lug spacing, but I believe that you will find that the wheels are standard with almost any tractor of similar size. I believe that they are 6-lug, both front and rear. McGrew Equipment, although they are a real pain in the a$$ to deal with, has a 284 that they are parting out, and it has a set of ag tires: http://cgi.ebay.com/INTERNATIONAL-284-C ... dZViewItem You may try contacting them to see what they would charge for the set of wheels and tires. Otherwise, I would just watch e-bay. Bill 1951 Farmall Cub, Cub Cadets 102, 104, 1811, 1864, Simplicity Legacy XL 4x4 Diesel with FEL, 60" mower, 50" Tiller
