Anybody have info on this tractor?

Postby Jeff D. N.E. Wis. » Sun Aug 03, 2008 8:55 pm

Came across a different tractor today. From afar it looked strange. It is an International B-414. Anybody have any info - good or bad - on this one?

The grill is beat up, has been painted with what looks like a brush, seat is shot, but the rest of it looks to be their. It is for sale with what looks like a 5 or6 foot snow-blower. Serial # is 1101. Have not heard it run. Would this be something to look into just for collectability? Are parts hard to come by? It would be neat to have a utility to share the stable with the letter series. I know it is hard to say, but any idea what price range something like this would be? I haven't called on it yet. Would like a little info first. Thanks.

I believe that is British made, parts may not be real handy.

David Chown over at Chown Tractor Parts will know part availability and general questions. The Brit IH's were often imported to Canada and then the US I think. They have parts for the 414

Very good no-frills tractor. The main chassis including engine--if it was a diesel--was used to create the 424, 444, and several others. Parts shouldn't be too bad. We have a 424 gas since new and it's a very tough tractor.

parts availability is not bad, but at times a bit pricey. i recently removed the gas engine from mine due to low compression on cylinder #4. turns out it only needed head work, the cylinders showed little wear, bearings good, etc. the engine gasket set is NLA, but individual gaskets are available. $150 for all.

it is a 5 main bearing, wet sleeve engine. an excellant worker with low range and IPTO. and now i'll have all 4 cylinders working properly :!:

if i can hi-jack this thread a little, mine is missing the sending unit for the oil pressure idiot light, and i'm not positive where it is supposed to be installed. i believe it's located below and to the left of the fuel pump, but the manuals (i have) do not show it. could someone take a look? thanks

I am going get this tractor!!! It is $500.00 and was a former Rhode Island highway tractor. It is painted highway orange and has turf tires. The head has been redone and the engine is apart ready to be rebuilt. It needs a clutch...which is missing. But otherwise it has good tin and is complete. Art...It comes with a manual so maybe it has more info than the one you have. Should be a great winter project and am glad I'm finally getting a bigger tractor than the Cub...more HP and with a PTO that isn't reversed.
:D
Frank...thanks for the email link for MaineTractors...I wasn't able to find. That's way up North near Rudi. Hmmm a visit to Rudi might be in order.

if you do need some stuff that David Chown might have, he's a great guy, i got a gear for my hydraulic pump on my C from him and he was great...

my friend has some good stories about a B-414, he says they were one amazing tractor, did just about anything they asked it to, even if it didn't want to do it, it still did it

Chuck; Actually its a little South of Augusta, roughly between Freeport and Augusta, East of the Turnpike. Look up his Website he lists what he has in stock on it.. Also you might check Kaminskys in West Bridgewater, he just scrapped everything but kept most of the IH tractors. Frank
