Hi all,
My cousin has a farmal tractor that has been repainted and no stickers were put on or the number of the tractor. I think is is a tractor from the 70's not sure ? Anyway he needs to re place the clutch and things, without the number of the tractor he is not sure what parts to ask for.
He gave me the numbers on the catings for the trannyand the block.
The numbers are as follows:
3064228R HI

3044048R 3A
5182-3
32352

Is there a way to find out the year from thes numbers.
He thinks it is a 450? Not sure. Any help would be apreciated.
Thanks
Kevin

I have seen that there is a site to check out to find the serial numbers for the cubs , is there one for general IH tractors?

YTMag has a serial number section but you first need to know exactly what model tractor you are dealing with. There are also some inconsistencies in their data.
Look on the left side of this page:
http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/ntracz.pl?m=ih

Scan down to the "information" section and check out the serial number charts.

Hi BigDog,
Do you know which number group I should be looking at? Is it last number on my list or next to last number?

You need to know which model tractor you are looking up. You say he thinks it is a 450. The numbers you listed are part numbers. A picture would help or locate the serial number plate and list the serial number with all the prefixes and we can go from there.

Type in or select International and then select a model number. The tractor serial number location will "magically" appear on the right side of the page. Maybe not magically.

Headed back to try it out a bit further.

Kevin,
A picture would help, but without one you could try a physical description to narrow it down. Is it gas or diesel? four cylinders or six? wide front or narrow? offset, utility, or row crop? rear tire size? standard drawbar, three point hitch, single or dual point fast hitch? how many gears in the tranny? disc or drum brakes? torque amplifier or independent PTO? If it really is from the 70's it may have a multi-range transmission, or reverser.
A couple date casting codes would be nice too.
Fill in the holes that you can and ask about the things you're unsure of.
Hope that helps,
Stan.

Another good source of information on different tractors is www.tractordata.com click on tractors on left side of page, then scroll down ot the brand. One note, Farmall and International Harvester are listed separately.

Googling the part numbers, I came up with:
434 MCCORMICK-INTERNATIONAL DIESEL TRACTOR (1/66-12/72)
Hope this helps.

Hi All,
It is a gas tractor, I will try to post some pics. Thanks for sending the info, I have tried to match the serial numbers with the web sites with no luck. Maybe the pics will help.
Thanks
