Recently acquired a 4-e hammer Mill
Do not have it in possession yet,
But in the mean time I need to get some info.
Do they have interchangeable screens. If so are they still available, I am pretty well versed on grinding I worked at a grain elevator for 3- 1/2 yrs.
What is the belt length and size.
I found a manual on SSB tractors webs site ,does anyone know if this is a good manual?

I talked to Phil a short while ago and gave him a lot of info. I will still answer his questions here in case any one else is looking for one of these or needs info. Btw, they are quite nice to have and I think they are one neat Cub Accessory.

There are several different size screens and each depends on what you want to do with your corn. These are not readily available anywhere. Russ Legget had some made at about $140.00 each. The fab shop I use said he could make them for about $40.00 labor if I found the material. I'm still looking for that.

My belt is eight feet long and four inches wide and cost about $50.00 to make. TSC has every thing needed to do this. Leather belts don't last long with one of these so I used a heavy rubber one.

Phil, as always, it was a pleasure talking to you again. I don't know much about the online manuals. I have one I will try to copy and mail to you.

Hi,

I've been searching the net and stumbled across this thread. I know the 4-E Hammer Mill was used to grind grain, but was it for animal feed only or could it be used for cornmeal and flour for human consumption?

Yes. Although it may not grind fine enough for wheat flour. There are several board members who do cornmeal at Cubfests.
