If you have the desire, then it is time to go and find out. You will never know unless you ask.

I would say to go and ask, you will regret if it someone else does and you find out it was cheap. Or worse than that, it was a Waukesha Model. I would like to get myself an F-12 and an F-14 but around here they are pricey even when stuck and in rough shape.
Found the 630 All-Fuel I have sitting in the weeds gave little of nothing for it and it ran fine, haven't put much into it since purchase neither.

The worst that can happen is they say it is not for sale. Go for it.

I get a most of my tractors and trucks by seeing them from the road . I always have to go back and ask. Thats how I got my lasted truck 1956 IH S-150. turns out it has been i storage since 1962. I saw it at a tractor salvage yard in Harmoney Pa about 10 years ago in a barn. The guy I bought it from happened to be there when they pulled it out to scrap it a few years ago when scrap prices were high, he convinced them to sell it to him. He had it for a few years and lost his job. Turned out that I knew the guy from tractor and truck shows. He sold it to me for 400 bucks. It has less the 6000 miles on it and has all the original tires though the fronts are shot. Runs like a top and has no rust at all.It pays to ask!

I know how you feel, I don't like to stop and bother people and ask them to sell something that is in their yard but I have been forcing myself to be bold.
Yesterday I stopped buy a house about 3 miles from where I live and asked the guy if he wanted to sell the cub that was in his yard. He did not want to sell but we had a good talk about tractors and now I have a new contact.
So stop and ask you never know what will happen.
