Was going to move some things in the yard, and I ran over the end of the chain in the front bucket. Next thing the right front wheel and part of the spindle flew over the hood :o . things can happen PDQ

You have answered the question of which is tougher, the spindle or the chain.

Sorry you have problems, Boss.

But I guess the moral of the story is that we need to be really careful not to run over chains attached to our tractors, eh. !! :!:

And I'm sure we have all done it a few times.

Boss

When we got our little kubota it had two hooks on it.

When I got the big one I put two hooks similar and a center open one. It really help when moving logs or other stuff and helps keep things balanced. It also allows me to wrap the chains up securely. And I don't have to try to look around the hood to see what I am picking.

Image

While lifting from the center of the bucket is best for stability. That is the weakest part of the bucket and I have seen a lot of bent ones. The bucket is a lot stronger directly above where it mounts to the loader frame. And by using two chains it spreads out the weight of a heavy pick and can keep the load in the center.

I don't know why but looking at that last picture makes me dizzy.

It makes you dizzy because that is the same view you get when you are coming out of the seat headfirst after trying to pick up to big a load.

Good deal David, glad things worked out...
I remember a log chain involving a tractor when I was little. Dad had the A John Deere stuck on a steep farm road with a spreader loaded down. He placed little me on the A and chained the B to the front and started pulling. The chain broke at the hitch and came back at me, I ducked behind the steering wheel and the chain wrapped several times around the exhalst and the air breather vent. Close call....

Ahhh the good ole days.
