Pictures taken at local tractor show. Two 1468s and a 1568.

DV-550.

They were sort of a novelty. MF had a v-8 diesel so the marketing guys at IH decided they needed one too. They ran on 4 cylinders on light loads and all 8 under full load. I have heard if you were cultivating or doing something else "light" they would putter along on 4 and when you got to the end of the row, raised the implement, and stomped the inside brake to do a "bat turn" onto the next row it would kick all 8 in and things could get "interesting." They didn't have the "grunt" of a good 400 series 6 cylinder, and if you put turbos on them they tended not to last long.

That said, if that 1568 in the pics is a bona fide black stripe, it is pretty rare.

Fair few made it to Australia and worked big square balers. Injector pumps where modified to run all 8cyl all the time as pump didn't respond quick enough to keep the power up to the baler.

Is that 1468 V-8 engine a Perkins. It may be the same one in a MF 1155.

My wife's grandfather has a couple of these, one of which has front wheel assist. They are a heck of a cool looking tractor.

IDA RED - the V-8 Perkins in the 1155 Massey shares nothing at all with the
V-8 DV-550 in this tractor you see here. They might sound a little similar but that is all.

They are AS DIFFERENT as Ford, Dodge, and Chevy V-8's are from each other.

That Perkins V-8 was a total turd.... it should have never been used in a tractor.
