A friend just picked this one up and thinks there must be a blockage in the pressure hose. He's waiting on manuals he ordered. I told him I'd post here and see if there were some suggestions on things to check that might cause a hot pump.

Different system than a Cub but the fundamentals are all the same. It has pressure control and pressure relief valves. Stuck pressure control forcing relief to pop off, plugged orifice etc.

Don't overlook someone having installed the wrong control valve and it being run against pressure relief all the time.
