New to me tractor
There has been times when I would have liked to have a bucket and more power than the cub. So last Thursday I bought a 1963 404. I'm getting on toward being old and throwing freshly sawn lumber into the old haymow was work. It dries fairly fast, about three months in summer with ends open. I can dry in the greenhouse in a month in summer but it can't hold much and I have to move it to the barn anyway. I'm sure I will find more jobs for it. Jeanne just shakes her head and mutters something about boys and toys. I turn off my hearing aids. Vern

I love I-404s! Used to be several in the neighborhood, all two row, three-plow full-fledged field tractors. I'd like to find a nice one, one day.

The rated hp is 39. No I haven't done anything to "work" the engine nor is it likely. I wanted to be able to reach the hay mow with it and that dictated a larger tractor and I also liked the tilt bucket and power steering. I make and sell things made of wood at craft shows, bowls, boxes, etc and use quite a lot of lumber the most of which I obtain in the form of logs mostly from tree removal. I have a cousin with a sawmill. I have pushed over a couple of 6 inch stumps that I cut two years ago so it wasn't really a challenge. I'm not sure the governor even opened. Thanks for your interest.
