power of H

I have seen post of folks useing brush hogs on the H. Would it be capable of running a NH 451 sickle mower. If i ever get this one running and see what kind of shape the engine is in i might put a 3 point and wide front to use in the hay field.

Right now i just have one tractor to run the mower and square baler. I get tired of changing back and forth.

I still have to come up with a round baler and probably another rake before summer.

i have 2 NH 451 (7'&9') sickle mowers so i do not plan on buying a pull type.I figure buying a round baler will be all i can afford. Just need to know if the H will have enough hyd and power. If not then i do not know if i will need this H.

The H will handle a sickle mower just fine.

It would take a little money but an H can be set up easily to do just about whatever you want. Saginaw County Tractor makes a very nice 3pt. hitch, good enough in my mind the factory could have used it. Also live hydraulics isn't to bad of a job to convert to. Also Charlyn still makes a power steering unit. The H can be vary versital.

Well , i still have to see how this ole tractor sounds and see if it is going to be a fixer- up- ur or a parts tractor. will have to see how many greenbacks it's going to take to be a user.

Put a wide front on a mowing tractor? No way if I was going to use it!

Gilles,

That's a good plan. Many don't understand why, but the wide front does help stability. Setting the rear wheels out helps even more. Stability comes at the sacrifice of maneuverability but for sloping terain it's a good trade. Safety is far more important than ease.

thats why all my tractors have wide fronts, hills, dips some of these hills is spooky with a wide front. it would'nt take much to tip a narrow over in places.

I just bought this H about a month ago. It needs some TLC, but the sheet metal is straight. This baby purrs like a kitten. The first tractor I owned was an H. It always performed. It didn't have a hydraulic hitch, though. I pulled a Woods C80 bushhog with it with no problems.

You are only gonna have 25 hp IF you get a top notch H!!! now,----you say you WANT to pull round baler!----SERIOUSLY doubt 25 hp would even pull a small round baler! I personally know it won't even lift the gate on a regular size baler, let alone make bales with it!!----the big vermeers,---510/etc. Deere's require like the size of 4440 deere or equivlent hp if you want to do serious baling and have the weight to handle the baler, especialy on hilly ground!! thanks; sonny

Gilles, I was told that it is a '51 model, but I haven't checked the serial no's.
