Engine size in a Super H

Postby tmays » Thu Sep 26, 2013 5:25 pm

I'm trying to find out what size engine came in a Super H. I look at the engine where I expect the size to be under the casting number and I find the numbers 468 I believe. The 6 and the 8 are not very defined so it could be any combo of the two. Any ideas? Thanks
Thomas

Thanks Denny! Now why didn't I think of that? One of those days I guess.

On the engine block, behind the oil filter canister, you should find "C-164"

You would think so but nope, not there. I can't find it anywhere on the engine

I believe that block number 6695DE is for the 152 ci engine for an H.

Now that's interesting because he sure bought it as a Super H. Is the engine the only difference between the two?

It has disc brakes and the late style front bolster. Start checking date codes, bet the engine won't match.

Disk brake housings are heavy cast units held on by 5 bolts with a button in the middle.

Band brake housings are smooth sheet metal pans with a lever sticking out the side near the top front.

The real indication is the serial number plate. A plain H will have a prefix of FBH before the number, and a Super will have SH before the number.

It's somewhat common to see a regular H with Super H decals. Some people put them on after putting the "Super H Engine Kit" in. Some people put them on "Because the tractor is real powerful. It's SUPER!" So, it could be a plain H with super decals.

Matt,
The picture is not showing now, but the disc brakes and late style bolster I mentioned earlier were both visible in the picture.
