What kind of tractor is this? (Sorry, no pics)

Postby havoc1482 » Mon Jun 16, 2014 10:05 pm

I was hoeing all day on a tobacco field and next door over the hedges I heard a tractor start up. I tried to get a good glimpse of the tractor but I couldn't see much. It was an odd looking Farmall. It looked like a Super H with HUGE rear tires and a tricycle setup with a single large wheel up front. I thought maybe it was an MV, but it didn't look like an M. In my eyes the way I tell Hs and Ms apart is the M looks "chubby". Also looked like there was sprayer attached to it. If I get a chance I will try to snag a photo. It was a real oddball thing. Definitely a Farmall, but not like I have ever seen.

Not much to go on with the description. A pic will definitely help.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Sounds like it was set up for spraying. (large tires for flotation)

They also made an HV, could be either one. I know it is to late now, but from a side view, you can look at the steering shaft to tell the difference. On an M it is almost horizontal, where on an H it has quite a bit of downward slope. You know you are an IH guy when you can tell the difference at 50 yards and 60 miles an hour.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Both the MV and HV would have wide front ends.

A large single front wheel would indicate a high drum cotton picker version. Huge rear wheels may have been an optical illusion due to the drop boxes that raise the tractor off the ground. There was no special designation for these.
