I was just browsing the Case IH online parts book for Farmall H front wheel weight bolt size. Found what I needed but stumbled onto the part numberS (Emphasis on plural there!) for the wheel weights.
The H front weight is part # 6788D (single weight).
But if you want a set then it's part # 48600D (which consists of two part # 6788D).
Want to put a second set of weights on? Then you need part # 48602D (which you guessed it consists of two part # 6788D).
Of course, then I HAD to look at the rear weights.
Part # 6818D (single weight)
First set part # 49329D (consists of two part # 6818D)
Second set part # 49330D (consists of two part # 6818D)
Third set part # 49331D (consists of two part # 6818D)
So if your wheel weights are subject to a Farmall Police inspection just remember that they are two, four, or six individual weights and were not installed as a set! Otherwise you have the wrong part number on your weights.
I'm sure there has to be a reason for this but it seems to me just having ONE part number for each weight and a quantity would be so much simpler.
Couldn't you imagine the kid at the chain auto parts store looking up a part number like this in the computer nowdays. "Nope, computer says I don't have any of those #48600D weights. To bad those #6788D ones won't work. I keep tripping over a stack of them back in the corner. Computer says that's the wrong part number though!

A "set" is a pair of weights plus the attaching bolts. If you try to install a second first set in place of a second set, you will need to get your bolt stretchers out.

That's a nice explanation and maybe correct but that is NOT how they are listed on the Case IH website. Maybe back in the day they had a nice crossreference or something to sort it all out but there is no mention of the sets containing bolts, nuts or lockwashers. They are all broken out seperately even to the point of there being two different part numbers for lockwashers for the first and second sets on front weights.
Also there's an interesting notation for the part identified as Ref #9 (a distributor/mag oil seal).
"Part Name" column for #9
DISTRIBUTOR OR MAGNETO DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL (Optional with 352080R91) (S/N 268224 up)
The "Part Name" column line directly under #9 reads;
Ref. 9 is deceiving this is a larger seal that fits over the shaft the correct sub number is P/N 398321r91.
Keep that one in mind when anyone is taking the IH drawings as infallible.
