Wide Load Ahead -- I don't think its a Cub

Howdy All! I was raised a city boy, and know next to nothin' about tractors. I see this real deal... a Cub about 2 hours south of me for $800. What A DEAL!

But it looks kinda funny for a Cub. Similar to my '51 but just not the same. So what is it? We'll start with the rear end.



As you can see it is definitely a wide load. And here is the right front 3/4 view



Finally, here is the head-on view.



If this really is a Cub, can someone explain the WIDE rear end?

I don't know my tractors very well yet. It looks like it may be a farmall A or B that someone has widen out in the rear. You can see the left front axle is pulled out and the right side is still in.

Is it a B with the wide front from an A? That's my guess.

I looked at some other tractors on the web and it looks like what Trentm71 said. It appears to be a B with a different front end.

Hey Rick, does it run and such? $800 for a B in my area would be a steal. I would run (not walk) to get the money and get that thing. Then I'd get a second seat for the left side. Those B's are perfect for a 2-seater and I've always wanted to do that!

I agree with Kevin - cheer up!! Of course maybe you're just deep in thought about the next Shade Tree How-To?

Thanks for the good vibes, but the fellow in the photo is probably the owner. I just snatched the pictures from the web site. As I'm sure you are aware, the CIA frowns on pictures of former operatives. I've not had a picture taken of me in years.

I may call the owner and see if it is still available. Then get with TexCub and fetch it if we make a deal.

UPDATE: Just called the guy and he sold it yesterday. Close, but no cigar.

If that rear axle set up is standard width for a B, it will tkae an extra wide trailer to haul it. 101 inches wide.

B rear end A front end. There should be a serial plate on the left side seat support, that will tell you what the parent tractor was. Engine serial would give you approx. year of manufacture.

The serial plate on the early "A" and "B" was on the pedal guard (missing from the tractor pictured). I don't know when, but it was moved to the seat support, I assume because the pedal guard was often removed and not replaced.
